Why water meters?

Water is the right of every citizen, and the allowances collected by the Bekaa Water Establishment are limited to the cost of transporting and treating water extracted from sources and delivering it to subscribers.

In this context, electricity meters are a necessary and effective means of securing accurate readings and guaranteed tariffs for all subscribers in order to modernize water services in the Bekaa region.

One of the most prominent steps that the Corporation seeks to achieve in this context is the adoption of model areas in the Bekaa to apply modern systems for all subscribers, with the aim of calculating and billing the service allowance for transporting and treating the quantities of water consumed.

How do water meters help to determine fair allowances?

Meters help determine the necessary allowances by measuring the amount of water consumed according to the individual’s personal need.

How is the quality of water distributed by the establishment monitored?

Three establishment laboratories in Zahle, Baalbek and Chamsine work periodically and regularly to test water samples at all stages, especially the production and distribution stages.

The water extracted from the sources is treated and distributed to about 242 storage units. Before reaching subscribers, the water is distributed through 565 km of push and pull lines, which are operated and maintained by the establishment.

Financial arrangements for those with financial difficulties:

In order to facilitate the payment process and reduce the financial burdens on the citizen, the Bekaa Water Establishment exempts subscribers by 85% of the delay fines for unpaid fees by them for previous years in accordance with Article 22 of the receipts and invoices collection system in the institution.
In addition to allowing the possibility of installment bills for annual water subscription allowances into four installments due before the end of the year.
